Geranium Essential Oil

In aromatherapy we use the essential oil of Geranium pelargonium, also known as rose-scented geranium, there are over two hundred species of geranium. This evergreen perennial is actually native to the southern region of Africa, but has been exported throughout the world as popular garden plant, also as a medicinal herb. Oil of Geranium flower is also highly sought after for its health benefits. Geranium flower have five petals, the leaves are the main medicinal elements in traditional medicine, and are primarily used to brew a pleasant-tasting tea that has a slight hint of rose.

Geranium Essential oil is one of the most commonly used essential oils.  It is well-known for its ability to

  • Tone the skin
  • Revitalize the complexion perfect for mature skin types.
  • Positive calming effect
  • Restores balance to combination skin
  • Restores balance to the central nervous system, in turn triggers healing. I particularly like using this oil because of this. If feeling down it lifts spirits, also if a little over-anxious/stressed it induces a calm relaxed feeling.
  • Good for clearing the head and for headache sufferers

Geranium essential oil is a great choice when you need to improve the staying power of your blend. Can be included in your rose blends, to bring down the cost, Geraniums are high in the Rose compounds and have a similar fragrance, at a fraction of the cost.  They won’t compare to the therapeutic activity of Rose Otto, but will contribute to the Rose fragrance.

Perfect as a room fragrance as it induces a calm relaxed atmosphere, also as a facial or body massage blend as it is helpful for its rejuvenating properties on combination skin types.

I particularly like the smell of geranium it reminds my of turkish delight, with its delicate hint of rose.
