Truly Essential Peace

The ancient Greeks are thought to be the first to use ear candles for cleansing and purifying and also for spiritual healing. This practice then migrated to America, where the Native American Indians of North Arizona used it widely to treat and heal, mainly by Shamen healers.

The candles are still made today on the basis of the old traditional formula which originates from the Native American Indians. Ear Candling is a deeply relaxing, calming and soothing treatment to help maintain and create a ‘healthy head’ and inner peace.

How they work

Once the candles are lit the ingredients inside is burnt, which causes convectional air flow towards the first part of the ear. The candle creates a mild suction which allows the smoke to gently massage the eardrum and the auditory canal of the ear, excess ear wax along with other impurities can then be drawn out.

The candles I used for this treatment are Biosun candles, they are designed specially with a safety filter and are marked to show the maximum burn level. These candles are made from linen, 100% pure beeswax, honey extract chamomile and sage essential oils.

Promoting peace, wellness and health, ear candling is beneficial for many health concerns, here are a few below. Medical advice must be followed, chronic or acute diseases and ear problems must not be treated. Always seek advice from a therapist if in any doubt.

  • Excessive earwax
  • Balances pressure
  • Tinnitus
  • Earache
  • Sinus and post viral problems
  • Soothing and relaxing

The Truly Essential Treatment

Ear candle treatment promotes calm, peace and quiet, it is a very relaxing therapy. Many of my clients request the treatment post viral, especially if problems occur with blocked sinuses. However it is very beneficial for those suffering with tinnitus and excessive earwax.

The treatment usually lasts between 30 and 45 min. I place a lit candle in each ear in turn letting them burn down carefully. Clients find this very relaxing and soothing.

When both ears are completed I ask my client to lay on their back and relax for 15 – 20 minutes. At this point I do a facial and scalp sinus drainage massage. This stimulates and promotes  clearing of the sinuses, I also blend and use essential oils to aid this process.
